Ok my buddy has a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4 ext cab and he wants to put a 7'' skyjacker suspension lift on it and 38x14.50x15 thornbirds and he wants to know if that big of tire is gonna mess up his truck in anyway,i told him that he is gonna lose power so he might have to change gears but he doesnt want to do that,so I'm askin yall if its gonna mess it up in anyway?

That size tire on the 44 is getting to the point of pushing the limits. The usual items he will have to keep an eye on is joints and shafts if he wheels it. Does he have stock gears? Is so he should upgrade in the near future - 4.88s would be the best size to go with. Stock gears and a large tire with our lovely auto tranny will not be a good mix. A lot will depend on the driver too - I've seen some run 37s and no issues, and others with 33s and busting stuff all the time. I assume since he has thornbirds he probably isn't much of a mud runner since they are not the greatest tire out there for that (IMO)

well he wheels it,but he believe that the thornbird is the best tire for that,and he said he likes them because they are loud!!....so let him think what he wants,i'm gonna hook him up with this site and let him find out for himself because he'll never listen to me...lol
