Gotta say never really liked the out or ups. too much can go wrong, putting a foot here throwing a tool there. Just doesn't seem safe to me. Personally if I was to build one (which I will be shortly) I would inclose it and make it face however you want out of the way. by enclose I mean with plexiglass (spelling?) but thats just my $.02

I used to run 2 10" sony explode subs in JR, I had them in a "TRUCK BOX" and had them faced at the back of the seat.
Theywere AWESOME! My brother has them in his car now and they rock in his trunk too.
Werent loud enough to be obnouxious(sp?) but they sunded GREAT in the truck.
And I dont even listen to Rap. You miss so much of the song that you would never even know was there without the subwoofers.
I wil be going with 1 15 " woofers when JR is finished, but not sure which ones I want....

Didn't mention on the SOUND part. But with all the boxes I have heard (my brother has built all his boxes and everywhich way) the way the point will not matter as much as how they are set up. A blow through with a port will have a different sound then just boxed, which has a different sound then enclosed. I mean one sound is not truly better than the other, they all have their merits. Its all up to the builder on that one. On a side note what your listening to. If you just want that punch of the drum in the ac/dc's hells bells. then your looking more at the ported, facing towards you. If you want that loud rumble of the bass in HipHOPjumpersmash (sorry don't listen to rap) you would be better off with the enclosed to give a lil more rumble. Bass is Bass when you look n a car stereo. It just simply forces the air around you to do what it wants. Be it direct contact (open facing out) with gives basically a wide beam feel. Or a closed contact (facing down or back) which will bounce off the cab walls and floor to give more of a full sound. I hope that helps out some. Maybe you should do a poll.

even though you already got one i thought i would tell you anyway that a ported box is going to sound much louder but the speaker will sound kinda sloppy because of the extra air movement. if you got a non-ported box then it will be a bit quiter but yer sound quality will be greatly increased in all kinds of music dont matter what yer listen too. so if yer goin with volume go ported and if yer going for quality go for sealed box.
