well thats the thing right now i drive a mercedes 500sl but im beggin the nuts out of my parents to sell it because i hate cars... they spent 15k on the car so whatever truck i can get for that amount or a lil more. Whats the easiest truck to lift? Ive heard from some that because dodges had the solid front axle they were the easiest but i dont know.

so right now im not tied down with any particular vehicle... and im not to excited about buying a truck with a 14 inch lift kit on it already. If i could make my own kit, or buy one, i would love to have that high. Some guys do it so i figure why cant a kid with all the tools and a dad that knows how to weld do it. Any recomendations on trucks would be cool. Ohh ya If i get a truck with IFS how much will it effect how extreme my offroading can be?

*****Old model Chevy is the easiest. Up to 12 and 15 inch kit for it run around 1500 bucks i think... ***Dodge is the Best***but expensive ***Ford is about the same as Dodge, but again, expensive Or you could go with a foriegn truck.... anything with a solid axle will be easier and less expensive to a point. Anything with IFS will be more expensive and more difficult. My first truck was a 3000 dollar ford ranger, and I modded the poop out of it! Why not get a 5000 dollar truck (old model Chevy)and spend the money on a lift kit, tires and a crapload of mods for it? Sounds to me that money isnt one of your problem areas....no offense meant. JR

I agree, you can get a really nice mid 90's f-250 or Ram both with the Solid Front Axles for under 10, then 2 into a good lift, 2 into the tires, and 1 into regearing and you'll be sittin nice

If you don't have a truck yet and want a hardcore 'wheeler, then buy an '87-older GM K10(or K30 if you can find one) if you want a pickup, or a '91-older Blazer if you want an SUV. Mods will be less expensive, so you will get a lot more for your money. - If you don't get a K30, start by installing a D60 up front and 14bolt FF in the rear. Move the front spring hangers/shackle mounts in order to run stock 52" rear springs(flex like crazy). - Then relocate the rear hangers forward and install 2.5" ORD shackle flip brackets relocated to run '88-up 63" rear springs with ORD's 6" HD shackles(again, flexes like crazy). - Install a crossover/hi-steer setup to keep your steering up and out of the way. - That should leave you with a decent chunk of change for lockers and re-gearing front/rear. Dump what's left into a crate motor, tires, wheels, and rebuilding/re-gearing the axles. Defintely make sure to install a 1350 u-bolt style pinion yoke on the D60. There's no sense in running a 1ton axle only to lose the strength to a 1310 1/2ton u-joint.
Don't get hung up on how tall your lift is. The right height is the height that allows you to clear your tires without contacting the frame, or body. With the setup above, you can keep a reasonable center of gravity while running 38" tires if you trim the fenders.

Here is something you could have gotten for under 15K. It was at a dealership and they were asking 14500 which you could have gotten down a little lower. 99 3/4 ton with v-10, 60000 miles running 39.5 swampers - I tried to trade them trucks but they didn't go for that.
