Usually you have extreme divisions just for non-streetable vehicles. Any vehicle with chrome suspension or steering components, the low-riders with the gold rotors, anything that was forced to be a convertable by only chopping the top and not reinforcing the chassis.
I want to put 2 1/2 ton axles on mine when I go up to 49's, but I know plenty of people that were very safe with no problems with just regular 1 ton axles that are reinforced. I think the 2 1/2 tons got popular for show and are a little overkill, but they're not that expensive and they come with a good gear ratio, plus the advantage of the top loading differential to improve driveline angles.

There needs to be a class in shows for good looking vehicles that actually work.
When I was messing around with RC Cars there would be shows with all these custom bodies that took hundreds of hours to paint. After the judging, you had to race it and get it all torn up or you were disqualified. There needs to be a class is real vehicles that require you to mud it, rock crawl, drag race, or hell, at least drive it around and see who can use their vehicle to get the most/hottest girls. That would be fun for everyone lol.

"Usually you have extreme divisions just for non-streetable vehicles. You know, you're the first person that's EVER explained that to me!!! Everyone else gets defensive and pisses in their diapers when someone dares suggest even a show only truck should at least be functional. I still don't see the point of building a truck that's basically a static display, but I really didn't know there were special classes for those useless vehicles, because at heart I'm not a "show truck" kinda guy. I'm not trying to be a smart azz(for a change) and I'd like to say "thanks" for clearing that up. At least now I don't think show judges are complete idiots. Also, I couldn't agree more with that statement! They don't even have to be good looking. Some of the best performing trucks are scratched and dented.

they do have a class for vehicles that actually work, It's called Top Truck Challenge. lol
Justin's truck is definatly a trailer queen, but the only thing I think he actually paid for was the truck itself. He is sponsered by an offroad shop and a sound shop that he has to cover his booth in when he goes to shows and stuff. Also, i can't remeber the rapper (hate rape anyways) but he made some bank from bein in a music video. He also gets big prizes and crap when he wins the big shows, so I guess he's like a big billboard for the shops (which i can't remember the name of)

A friend of mine and I co-own an off road shop, but anything that big would roll out of our shop completely functional and on 1ton running gear MINIMUM! I wouldn't put my name to anything that couldn't at least be safely driven on the street, but that's just me...

justins truck (yellow) is functional 4x4...the shop is southern suspension specialists...one of the few shops that i approve of somewhat...and he did hav to pay for materials.
ive also seen it quickly turn over one of the 52' on grass...but i guess its due to the 6.72's

Don't know the guy's by name, so I thought he was talking about the red pile. The yellow truck doesn't appear to be booty fabbed like the red thing.

There are some vehicles out there that should be trailer queen only, because you can go soooo far overboard that way, and that's what really helps the industry. It's when guys see something on a crazy car or truck and then wonder how that could work for them, or they have an idea that's somewhat related to it. I remember when I got my first truck 10 years ago, I was told to upgrade to a Dana 60 front on my Ramcharger if I wanted anything larger than 38's, that mindset has completely changed and now it's bigger. It's constant change in this that, at least for me, keeps the interest up and keeps me thinking "what can I do that nobody else has done." There are thousands of mods out there that I would never do, and there are thousands that I would love to do. Originality, quality, form, and function are how I believe all mods should be designed.

Justin's truck is definatly BA, but sadle it is not YET a functional 4x4. It does have matching front and rear axles but does not have a front driveshaft. look in this picture, you can see the rear driveshaft between the 2 yellow bars, but there is no bar between the front, i have seen this truck up close on more than one occasion and workin in a 4x4 shop i immediadly crawled under it and started looking at everything he had done, and there is no front driveshaft, everything else functions great however.
