Hey Everyone, guess I'm the new guy here. I've painted my fair share over the years. In fact my wife and I own a Maaco Collision repir center in Hampton, VA.
Painting isn't that hard and when I see dealerships and other body shops charging 1500+ for a paint service I have to laugh. With enough practice ANYONE can do a decent paint job. It's like someone said. just practice, but not on your truck!

i have been painting for a few years but i have had a lot of things to practice on, and when they wanted 1600 bucks just to paint the bottom part of my truck black i said screw that and did it myself. as long as you clean the surface you are to paint really good, and take your time and dont get in a hurry you will do fine.

just lately I've been using the ol rattel can to do the small add-ons and trim pieces. Think I'm going to try to do the tailgate box next....don't like the polished aluminum...needs to be blacked out

I've Been doing my own painting for a while.. my dad's owned a his pwn body shop and he works by himself in it so i help him out usually if he needs it... pretty easy skill to pick up and ya can make the job look pretty good if ya got some nice guns..... but the harder skill to master is the actual body and prep work done to the vhicle before ya even get to spray pain on it .... and sanding sucks

drive shaft, pumpkin, axles all rattle cans followed with a little wet sanding and then some rattle clear, even impressed my painter when I said I'd done it with a can.
